Some of the services we provide
Complete Service Upgrade
Modern technology and appliances demand more from your electrical system than ever before. If you are planning to add heat pumps, an EV charger, hot tub, other electric appliances or you are building an addition, you may need to upgrade your service so that your system can safely supply the increasing load. From initial planning to final inspection we will handle every detail of this project from start to finish. We take care of any necessary permits and work directly with CMP to coordinate the hookup for a seamless process.
Did you know that whole-home surge protection is now an NEC code requirement? All our service upgrades and panel upgrades come standard with surge protection and are guaranteed to be fully code compliant.
EV Chargers
You can have the convenience of level 2 EV charging at your own home or business. Level 1 chargers plug into a standard 120v wall outlet and don’t generally require a separate installation. However, with charging rates of only 3 to 5 miles per hour of charging, this option can be very limiting with a full charge taking up to 48 hours.
Level 2 chargers require a dedicated 240v circuit and provide charging rates of 25 to 30 miles per hour or more depending on the charger and the circuit size supplying the charger. This allows you to fully charge your EV overnight.
EV Charger installs require a permit in most municipalities in Southern Maine. But don’t worry, we handle that as well and we guarantee that our installation will pass inspection
Generators and Transfer Switches
Whole-Home Standby Generators
Standby generators are installed in combination with an automatic transfer switch, which detects loss of power from the utility and automatically transfers the source of power for your home or business to the generator within seconds.
This system is completely '“hands-free” and will switch back to utility power and shut down the generator after power is restored.
Portable Generator Hookup
For a more budget friendly option when you just need to keep the essentials running during an outage (lights, furnace, freezer, well pump) a portable generator hookup combined with a manual transfer switch or a panel interlock gives you the ability to safely power your home with a portable generator. This option just requires a few simple steps to manually hook up the generator, and transfer power.
This installation provides a safe, acceptable alternative to the infamous “suicide cord” method of connecting a generator to the home.
Panel Upgrade and Installation
Whether your current panel is outdated or overloaded, or you need a sub-panel installed at another location in the home or in a workshop or garage we provide professional panel installations and upgrades that bring your panel up to NEC standards.
Ask us about getting smart, WiFi connected breakers. These include features such as tracking power consumption, turn breakers on and off from anywhere with an app on your phone, and even scheduling on/off times.
Overloaded panels or frequently tripping breakers aren’t just inconvenient, they can be a serious fire and safety hazard as well.
Does your home have a Federal Pacific “Stab-Lok” panel? These were commonly installed between 1950’s and 1980’s and they often come up as an item to be corrected on home inspections. The circuit breakers in these panels have been identified to have a high rate of failure to trip in the event of the circuit being overloaded. For more information look here.
Hot Tub Wiring
Adding a hot tub is a great way to upgrade your home's outdoor living space, but ensuring it is powered correctly is essential. Because water and electricity require special care and safety measures, we provide a dedicated circuit with the proper overcurrent and GFCI protection.
